Over your ten years with WIC, what have you enjoyed the most?
Working with babies and children. Helping families with healthy choices. It is fun watching the babies (newborns to age 5) grow up and listening to parents tell me how WIC has helped them. I Enjoyed traveling to different states for WIC conferences and learning how other WIC agencies are ran. Seeing country side I would have never seen if not for WIC.

Over your ten years with WIC, what have you enjoyed the most?
WIC staff at my agency always made me feel at home, so I knew it was a good fit for me my first year and it still is on this 13th year. The first year, it took a while to get comfortable with the computer program and knowing everything that was needed/required, so my advice is to always be patient with yourself and give yourself grace and time to settle into your new role.

I started working for WIC through Central NE Community Services on June 6th 2011. In 2013 I took on vendor management. I've seen changes over the years such as switching to the new Journey computer system, many great food package changes and switching from paper checks to eWIC cards. The most recent change to date has been remote appointments due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

Over your ten years with WIC, what have you enjoyed the most?
What I enjoy the most about WIC is helping families learn about healthy lifestyle habits for their families to meet their individual goals. I love seeing the babies and children. I was fortunate to work at the State WIC and learn more about policy and procedures and how the WIC program works from the clinic level, to state level, and the rules set forth by USDA. Overall I love it all.

Over your ten years with WIC, what have you enjoyed the most?
I enjoy all of the babies who come for visits. They look like weird little aliens, but are so cute that I would totally help them to subjugate humanity, if only they could sit up. Also, their attempts at speach are adorable and, honestly, they make more sense than most fully grown humans. I enjoy their company so much, in fact, that I decided to have one of my own and I am currently on maternity leave. I have always enjoyed working with families and helping to start a solid foundation for providing the best foods to meet our needs. Teaching them why it’s important to eat this way and how foods affect us throughout our lives.
